The quote attributed to Wendell Berry was based around the whole start-up of the business and particularly the use of timber - a natural resource. We had an aim to not only provide wonderful quality furniture that lasts generations but only use materials from sustainable sources and do our bit for the planet around us.
To support our planet & while working with timber a natural resource, we support FSC with the majority of our products. What does this mean? FSC is an independent non-profit organization that has a mission to create responsible forestry preventing deforestation and forest degradation. By selecting FSC-certified wood, you're also supporting fair wage & work environments, biodiversity protection supporting wildlife & local communities living in and around forest areas. Weather looking for a natural colour or quirky wood grain, we have plenty to choose from. Here are a few examples of wood types spotted around our store
Oak
Perhaps the people's favourite, Oak is an extremely durable hardwood that is perfect for both indoor & outdoor settings while having lovely grain and feature wood knots.
Beech
Beech is known for it's unique colour - this is a reddish-brown when untreated and once finished provides a lovely warm glow. A strong & durable wood perfect for indoor environments.
Pine
Pine is blonde in colour & features a distinctive grain pattern which pops once you add a wood stain finish. Pine is also an eco-friendly alternative making best for those conscious of a sustainable future.
Live Edge Oak
Live-Edge or commonly known as Waney Edge oak is where it follows the natural grain of the tree it's made from. This is excellent for making a feature & a stand alone piece with no other item being the same.
Walnut
Arguably the most luxurious & sort-after timber, Walnut is a strong, dense hardwood that has the most intricate wood grain with rich patterns and a natural warm brown colour; working well with many design styles.
