WHAT IS SPALTED timber? Highly sort-after with woodworkers, spalting is any kind of wood colouration that is caused when timber starts to decay and having nutrients extracted from it. Spalting is only possible under certain conditions which when active leaves the lovely marbled effect with dark straggled lines. All timber is kiln-dried and treated accordingly which makes it into the lovely safe and beautiful piece of furniture seen in the imagery.
